Books VS Movies : characters representation

Description

This is my personnal ranking about the HP's characters considering their representation in the movies.
The lower placed the character is, the bigger was my disappointment.
Yes, I judge the pets too.

On top there is of course Vernon, Filch, Mrs Norris, Peter Pettigrew and Umbridge who are incredible. The choice of actors was more than perfect. Their role was whole and respectful to the book. I have to admit that recognizing Imelda Staunton and David Bradley from Midsomer Murders helped them to find my heart. (I used to love midsomer murders when I was a kid)
Jason Isaacs was a surprise... A good one. Classy, cold, and long hair. I remember the first time I saw him in the movie theatre (I was 10), I was.. Oops! .
But even better than all of them is Kenneth Branagh. Normally I'm really proud of the way I imagine the characters and my brain can protect my imagination from influence if I want to but... All the Lockhart I had ever imagined were rubbish compared to this one. There is no way I can criticise him.

Second rank are the characters who's actor have been really good but not sensational.
Crooshanks... Should have been more fluffy. Rita was good... If only we could have seen a little more.
1st Flitwick was one of my favourite. He was all wizard like and all... Sadly they changed his make up. Goblins in general were almost perfect. (Yes it's a goblin, I just don't know how to draw them.)
Bella... Like many, I love Helena Bonham Carter but... maybe the eyes too round or not enough sadism in her expression... I don't know. There was something missing.
Draco could have been better played but normally I hate kids (even when I was one I hated actor-kids) and Tom Felton wasn't too annoying in the first movies (and quite good in the last ones) so I'm satisfied.
Rufus Scrimgeour... Okay, I love Billy Nighy, it's totally biased. But you have to admit that he was impressive in this role.
Colin Crivey in the second movie was really good. Too bad he almost disappears after that.
"Friend : Who's that guy, sweeping something ?
Me : Nobody is sweeping.
He : He has a broom ! ... Oh, ok ! It's Cormac !
"
Yep, it's Cormac McLaggen. He has as much place in the book as in the movie so I consider he was well represented and wasn't a disappointment

This section is the "special one". The actors were physically completely different from what I imagined and so was their way to play... Yet it was excellent. Just not perfect. (Remeber : I'm talking about tastes, opinions.)
"Friend : Who's... Wolverine ?"
It's Ollivander ! He's holding several wands !Crying I never managed to imagine more than his eyes so seeing John hurt was okay. Not mysterious enough but I don't know any other actors who could have done as much.
Snape... I love Alan Rickman, I love him in "Snow cake", "Love Actually", "Sense and Sensibility", "Die Hard" and many other movies and I love him in Harry Potter but... Nah. He wasn't as good as he can be. The choice of the scenarists, of course... And maybe a little too old too. Not enough ferocious hate on his face.
Slughorn was perfect in the behaviour, the voice, the expresions... but not fat enough. Too bad. (Yes, my standards are really preposterous.)
Maggy Smith... Here again I love her. She's a wonderful woman (and use to be a really nice-looking woman) but here again... A little too old for the powerful, strong and sensitive professor McGonagall. (My love for Minerva is irrational)
James... In fact it is not really James. It's the James that we see in the third movie, dancing with Lily on a photo. He's not looking like Harry at all, he's a little too old...
But the first time I saw him (I was 12 years old)... One word was on my mind. "Hot". I had, and still have, a huge crush on "dancing-james". That's the reason of his situation on the "special rank". I'm in love.
Bartemius Crouch Jr... Not scared enough but almost the only "not a total disappointment" in the 4th movie so he deserves his place. (And he his a Doctor.Meow :3 )
Aunt Marge... I don't have to explain why I love her ! It was brilliant ! Just like the book !

Then Hagrid... Perfect in his look and his behavior but... Not in the accent.
I liked Percy a lot ! Even without his glasses ! (And drawing him like this was fun.)
Molly. : a little overacting sometimes but mostly excellent in the movies.
Arthur : not bald enough but I loved everything about him. (And the missing glasses again !) He is a perfect nice, a little shy but fair, Arthur.
Quirrel : he was really good... Just... Not extraordinary like Lockhart.
Trelawney : AAAAH ! Emma... I admire this actress but here... Not Trelawney enough. No "mysterious voice"... I still admire her, though.
Fudge : very good, nothing to reprove. Just a little too calm in the 5th.
Moody : Not the way I imagined him... Which isn't bad at all but he doesn't seem that paranoid and mad.
Hedwig : she gets fat in the 3rd movie ! (I just wanted to add her to my drawing because Crookshanks was there too.)
Alberforth : Very good. Better than I imagined but a little too nice.
Crabbe and Goyle (1st and 2nd movie) : here again, perfect but not enough time for you.

Dumbledore-Harris : All calm, august, old-wise-wizard... But (sadly) too old.:worry:
Narcissa : Seriously, what's with the hair ? Ignoring this (horrible !) quirk, her performance was breathtaking in the 7th movie.
Neville... A little bit boring compared to the book.
Moaning Myrtle : Overacting again but not bad at all.
Sirius : ... Yes I'm a fangirl and yes I was a little bit frustrated the first time I saw Gary Oldman in this role. But he's a great actor, the way he plays Sirius is rich and... "Prick up your ears" helped me to imagine him as a very good Sirius Black.8-) And so many innuendo.
Seamus : the good surprise of the movies. Good actor, funny moments, and even a little surprise in the 7-2.
Dobby : Meh.
Petunia and Dudley : okay, for Dudley it's mostly my hate of kid-actor but they are not that bad... Just not blond the way they are supposed to be !

This rank is... "Sighing almost all the time but some -infrequent- good moments".
Fred and George. Too caricatural, almost non existent. (You are still reading this stupid text ! Impressive ! I'm a little sorry for you.)
Voldemort : Perfect look but strange way to act (sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't).
Remus : Okay, here again the fangirl in me was hurt by the appearances. And this awkward moment about Lily "Your mother was sweet, wonderful, hot, I totally..."... Nooope ! And it's worse in the other movies.
Cho Chang : Not that bad actually but not pretty enough. (WHOA ! First time I said this... Normally I hate it when the actresses are always pretty.)
Luna. Yes, Luna. A disappointment. Physically, perfect Luna but she knows too much in the movie, she's almost a Mary-Sue and nobody make fun of her in the cruel way described in the book.
Lavander : Too much changes, not enough "normal brave girl".
Fleur/Krum/Cedric : not bad, just... not good either. Boring mostly. (Which was a disappointment : I love Fleur's fierceness in her feelings)

Ron was very good but then it became boring to see him only represented as the "stupid glutton". It gets better in the 7th.
Harry... Do I really have to explain ?
Dumbledore-Gambon : A bit strange in the 3rd, Horrible in the 4th, then gets better. But where are his glasses ? Half of the time he doesn't wear his glasses !
Hermione : Emma Watson is pretty but... After the second movie it was just embarrassing for me to watch her.

"Friend : And now the Graveyard of Bad Taste"
Yes, my friend is even meaner than me.
Ginny. Ginny... Seriously, how did they failed Ginny ?! The 2nd movie was good but after that. :stare:
Tonks : Okay, not enough time again but it would have been better to erase her part totally than to show her like this.
Bill : Fangirl speaking again. Nope again.
Crouch Sr : where is the strong, determined and inflexible Ministry employee ? Where is the weak, scared and depressed father ?
Madame Maxime : She is supposed to be a beautiful, elegant woman, not a wardrobe with a wig !

Okay, so remember : this was just my opinion. I dislike the movies a lot, I watch them mostly for the music, the backgrounds and the actors on the top of this picture.
If you want to do the same, I would love to see it !
